Dahl-Jensen Figurines

ALL of the following figurines are mint condition and ALL are first quality.  

Dahl-Jensen began figurine production in 1925 and stopped all production in 1981; the company sold off its remaining inventory and closed its doors in 1984. In the table below, Size is in inches and may refer only to the height, even when the figurine is longer or wider than high.  Book Value refers to price guide information from the book Dahl-Jensen Porcelain Figurines by Nick and Caroline Pope.  As with any price guide, the prices shown reflect the opinions and experience of the authors. Although the price guide is expressed in US Dollars, much of the price data was gathered in England and Europe; an updated Price Guide would need to be 20% to 40% higher to reflect the declining value of the US Dollar.  In the few cases, I have substituted current European auction prices, shown in Euros (in blue) and converted to dollars at $1.50  (e.g., € 695   $1040).   

Price Guide:  A new book, Dahl-Jensen Porcelain Figurines (by Nick and Caroline Pope) was published in March, 2003 by Schiffer Books.  It lists all of the approximately 400 figurines made by the Dahl Jensen porcelain factory (1925-1985), plus many of those which were designed by Dahl-Jensen for Bing & Grondahl while he was employed there (1897-1925).  It is a large format, hard cover book containing 192 pages and approximately 400 color pictures.  It has the most complete listing and the best  price guide in print for Dahl -Jensen figurines.  Like any price guide, the data was collected in the years BEFORE the book was published (2003), and it reflects the opinions and experiences of authors;  my prices may be higher or lower.   Cover price is $49.95; I have it in stock for sale at $35.  

The following Category Types are used to help describe and classify the figurines:

• Oriental - Loosely, any non-Caucasian Figurine (including Oriental dancers)
• Dancer - Any non-Oriental Dancer
• National - Any child or adult in Danish National Costume
• Child - Any Child or Chlidren other than above
• Animal - Any animal other than Dogs or Birds

· White - Any all White, undecorated Figurine

Want List:  I will buy most Dahl Jensen figurines that are first quality (no scartch through the trademark) and in mint condition.  I also buy Dahl Jensen stoneware, dinnerware, or scenic vases signed by Arthur Boesen.

Factory Seconds:  Some Dahl Jensen figurines were marked as Factory Seconds by placing a small scratch through the letters "DJ" in the trademark.  Sometimes this scratch is very difficult to see, but you can usually feel it by running your fingernail up and down over those two letters; your nail will "catch" on the scratch (if it is there).  ALL of the figurines in the table above are First Quality, but I have the following factory seconds in stock at prices discounted approximately 50% below the price of first quality.  Often it is very difficult to say why a figurine was marked as a factory second; if there is an obvious blemish or defect, I will send you a picture before sending the figurine.  Like everything I sell on my webpage, second quality figurines are returnable within 10 days for a full refund if you are unsatisfied for any reason.
