Bing & Grøndahl CM67
Icelandic Parliament (Althing) 1000th Year, 930-1930
In 1930, Iceland celebrated the 1000th anniversary of its Parliament, the Althing, which first convened in 930 and is the oldest such legislative body in the world. A Viking (norseman) is shown looking out over an Icelandic landscape, known for its geysers, volcanoes, and lava fields. Although no production numbers are available for most B&G plates, this is one of the most rare.
